MISSION STATEMENT

I want to be a catalyst, someone who sparks growth in myself and others while also outputting positive energy into my environment. Whether it be through seeking creative solutions to complex problems, spreading ideas, or interacting with the world, I hope to spark inspiration and hope in my peers. As I’ve worked with both the Ronald McDonald House and Migrant Farmer communities, I plan on continuing this line of work in my professional life. I hope to pursue a career in public health to combat minority healthcare barriers and mitigate the financial and social inequities in urban communities.

ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Madison Lee, a 17-year-old senior at Sport and Medical Sciences Academy in Connecticut. Art has always been a part of my identity, first manifesting in my colorful crayon scribbles on the kitchen wall at age four (much to my mother’s dismay). Staring at the colorful chaos on the wall, I realized two things.

1. I loved to draw.

2. My art can spark reactions from others.

From then, it’s been a tradition for me to make hand-made cards for my friends and family. This simple hobby turned into a way for me to make a real difference in 2019 when I started my website (poliecards.com) to sell my cards and garner donations and awareness for the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut (RMHC).

I want to continue working with the RMHC community for my capstone project this year— not just through my cards but also with other creative mediums. Whether it be through virtual fundraisers, holiday festivities in the House, or baking goods, I hope to make a difference. I believe that learning happens through real connections, and I hope that this website can be a place for that to happen.
